Oklahoma Coal Ash
The EPA held public hearing on a plan by the Oklahoma Department of Environmental Quality to take over the permitting and regulation of coal ash pits. The pits are containers for the residue left over from burning coal to produce electricity. The coal ash contains numerous heavy metals and cancer causing chemicals.
